In Hollywood, knock-down, drag-out custody battles are not uncommon. Sadly, the spawn of celebrities are usually at the center of big-time brawls that get splashed across the tabloids. This year, Pasadena divorce lawyers have seen dozens of high-profile custody cases, and you can now add the names of Usher and Tameka Raymond to the ever-growing list.
R&B sensation Usher and his ex-wife attempted to have a civilized Hollywood divorce. The pair didn't badmouth one another, and there were no extramarital affairs that came out of the woodwork. But all the maturity and good feelings recently flew out the window as Tameka scrapped the couple's initial custody arrangement and is now seeking full custody of the couple's two sons.
Tameka insists that Usher has failed to abide by the initial terms of their divorce. In documents filed in a Georgia state court, Usher allegedly "has repeatedly FAILED to obtain her permission to travel outside the state with the kids ... which he's legally obligated to do." The documents also claim that Usher has failed to get his ex-wife's approval before hiring nannies, did not allow her to take the kids for two weeks in the summer 2011, denied her custody during the holidays of 2010 and has refused to give her first priority to watch the children when he is gone for more than 8 hours. She also claims that Usher owes her $34,000 after failing to pay $5,000 per month allotted for childcare.
Lawyers for Tameka Raymond says these infractions are in direct violation of their custody arrangement, which they mutually agreed to in 2009 when they divorced.
Usher Raymond and Tameka Foster were married in 2007. In addition to the pair's two sons, Tameka has three children from prior relationships. Usher was previously romantically linked to singer Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of the group TLC and supermodel Naomi Campbell before he married Tameka.
