Since last October, celebrity couple experts and divorce attorneys in Pasadena alike have wondered: What the heck is going on with Courtney Cox and David Arquette? The actors announced their separation last year, but word was that the pair was trying to work things out. Then rumors of a new love in Arquette's life surfaced. Still later, Cox and the couple's seven-year-old daughter, Coco, were seen cheering Arquette on while he competed on Dancing with the Stars. There was even news of two new television shows produced by the pair's production company getting sold to two different networks.
Despite all the public speculation about reconciliation, Arquette says he and Cox will not be getting back together.
Arquette was a guest onThe Howard Stern Show last week and was, as usual, quite candid about his relationship with Cox. When Stern asked if he would go back to Cox, he replied, "Uh. I mean, no." He went on to reveal that he and his ex-wife had a heartbreaking conversation about his new girlfriend, Entertainment Tonight correspondent Christina McLarty. After he admitted to Cox that he was in love with McLarty, Arquette says, "She was sad, we were both sad."
Contrary to what Arquette had told Stern and other interviewers a few months ago, he says the pair is finally over and plans on divorcing as soon as possible. Cox has been linked to her Cougar Town co-star Josh Hopkins, but sources close to the actress say she is still single.
Courtney Cox and David Arquette met on the set of the hit horror film Scream. The couple was married in 1999. In addition to three other Scream films, Cox and Arquette appeared together on her hit television show Friends. Their production company, Coquette Productions, produces Cox's prime-time sitcom Cougar Town. Despite the breakup, the couple says they will continue to work together professionally.
